The previous post of Pas reminded me that Justice also released this really cool video with motion graphics on t-shirts for the song D.A.N.C.E.. This video made by the French duo Jonas & François has been nomitated for “Video of the Year” by MTV in 2007, so you probably have seen it before. They’ve done a similar video with LP covers which is the one above, which is a teaser for the ED Banger Vol. 2.

The duo has done many music videos like Madonna’s 4 Minutes, but it seems like the ones using animations are the best ones. The one above is the music video for Kavinsky’s Testarossa Autodrive.

As with their other videos, here’s another one that’s recognizable for its animation, rotoscoping and typography: Flair’s Better than Prince. If anybody knows the official page for Jonas & François please post the link – it’s seems like my Googling skills are a bit off today.

Stop motion AND typography? What more do you want? A short but sweet stop motion film made by ruifilipeabreu. The moving fonts are done quite nicely and here’s some “making of”-information of him in one of the YouTube-comments:
This was photographed with a Nikon D60 with a 18-55mm lens. I shot it with Istopmotion which is very easy to use software, and not very expensive. The music was made with Garage band. And most of the sound FX are stock sounds.
The letters were cut in MDF, and I used the substitution technique.
The set is made of 5mm cardboard painted with acrylic ink
and was inspired/copied from Jacques-Louis David’s painting The Oath of the Horattii.
Quite interesting that it is MDF – it sort of looks like clay.

A documentary yet to be released called “Typeface” has its trailer just released. It seems interesting if you’re into typography and graphic design as the trailer shows a small part about old school typeface setting. The tagline is “Charting the intersection between rural America and contemporary graphic design”, so I excited to see it!

This is an interesting, almost 3-year old documentary about the most used font on the planet, Helvetica. Even though “Helvetica” is the title, it is more the excuse underneath for the documentary, because essentially, this film is about typography and graphic design and that is what makes it interesting. Check out the official website for more interesting stuff, as well as cool merchandise. You can get the film too on the website.

Music video for the single “Arukuaraundo” by the Japanese band Sakanakushon. Japanese Typography on a whole different level than all the motion graphic typography you’re used to!
